Happy World Backup Day!
World Backup Day is celebrated every March 31 as a reminder of how important it is to create backups of your data. Family photos, tax documents, contact information, files, spreadsheets, and more… anything you consider critical to keep and have access to. If you find there is some data on your devices that you don’t want to be without, BE SURE to make a backup.
Consider natural disasters like earthquakes, fires, floods, hurricanes, and tornados. Consider thieves and hackers, stealing devices or ransoming your data back to you. Consider accidents like dropping your device or spilling hot coffee on it. In all these situations you could be left without your device or its data. For this reason, NGT recommends everyone create backups of their data.
A backup is simply a separate copy of data to protect against loss. It can take the form of printed hard copies, USB drives, or cloud storage of your important documents. More sophisticated solutions allow you to backup an entire device and restore it from the backup. Restoring is the use of a backup to recover data that has been lost or damaged.
Regardless of your level of tech savviness, backups are essential to ensuring the safety of your data. If you are not currently backing up data, consider starting on World Backup Day!
